Literature Committee Report - October 2024

The Area 41 Literature Committee meeting opened at 9:05 AM, with Jim S. reading the 12 Traditions. We had three attendees representing Districts 6, 7 and 24. The committee reviewed and approved the previous committee report.

The second “Pamphlet Challenge” of 2024 is under way. It began on 01 JUL and will end on 31 DEC. When purchasing pamphlets please let me know what district your home resides in. We also have plenty of Newcomer, Correction, Service & Twelves pamphlet packets available. And the Spanish Paquete de Recien Llegado is also available. If you would like a listing of the pamphlets that are in each of the packets please send me an email at [redacted] or stop by the literature table at the next event you see me at, and I can provide you a listing.

For quarter three of 2024, the Literature budgeted account (Hotel & Travel) balance forward was $324.90 and the Area 41 deposited $288.16. Hotel & travel expenses were $329.72 leaving an ending balance of $283.34. The Literature sales account balance forward was $1227.00. Income was $2264.65 and expenses were $2279.32 leaving an ending balance of $1211.33. Subtracting outstanding purchases that haven’t cleared the account of $14.75 and collected sales tax due to the state of Nebraska at $434.12 gives us a working balance of $762.46

The Literature Committee discussed and voted on pamphlets to include in the upcoming month’s “Pamphlet Spotlight”. The goal is to get us inspired to read more pamphlets. We have a ton of great literature. This “Pamphlet Spotlight” will hopefully challenge us to read more of it. The pamphlets we selected for the next four months are: November – P-44 “AA’s Legacy of Service”; December – P-87 “A.A. for Alcoholics with Mental Health Issues – and their sponsors.”; January – P- 91 “Experience has Taught Us: An Introduction to Our Twelve Traditions”. All pamphlets are free to download at aa.org - just put the pamphlet number (i.e. P-13) in the search box on the webpage and hit the “View PDF” button. They can also be purchased at your local Central Office, online at onlineliterature.aa.org, or at your Area 41 Literature table.

During the last quarter, I had the opportunity to attend the Area 41 4-Corners Workshop in Kearney, District 31’s Annual A.A. Spanish Convention of Nebraska in Columbus & the District 24 picnic also in Columbus. Thank you to all the individuals that made these events such great successes. If you haven’t got me scheduled to attend your group or district event, please contact me at [Literature Committee Contact Form]. We closed at 11:35 am with the Declaration of Unity.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve, Mark S.
