What is Area 41?

Serving Nebraska, Area 41 is one of 93 AA areas that send a delegate to the annual General Service Conference of Alcoholics Anonymous. In addition, Area 41 facilitates the carrying of the A.A. message statewide through the work of its service committees.

New to Service?

A.A.'s Responsibility Statement:
I am responsible. When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there. And for that: I am responsible.

Area 41 Service Resources:

Getting Involved in A.A. Service:
A.A.’s Twelfth Step suggests that we carry the message of recovery. That is the basic service that A.A. provides. Any action that helps A.A. to function as a whole is service. Most A.A. members start out providing service in their group.

What is an Area Assembly?

The Area assembles quarterly to hold committee and business meetings and to facilitate communication between A.A. groups, districts and the General Service Conference. Area decisions are made by group conscience of the voting members, who include GSRs, DCMs, Area officers, committee chairs and service position-holders. Non-voting A.A. members are always welcome and encouraged to participate in all aspects of the assembly, including committees and discussion of items under consideration for potential vote.

Assemblies are currently held at the Quality Inn and Conference Center in Grand Island, NE in January, April, July and October each year. Hotel reservations may be made by contacting the hotel front desk, but there is no requirement that assembly attendees stay overnight at the hotel.

Who can attend Area Assemblies?

All A.A. members are encouraged to attend and participate at Area 41 assemblies. Committees rely on the participation of as many members as possible to carry out their purposes. While voting to identify the Area’s group conscience is reserved for those elected to represent their groups, districts, or the Area as a whole, all A.A. members may contribute to the discussions that lead to development of the Area’s group conscience. Those elected to voting positions are especially encouraged to attend.

When is the next Assembly?

What is the newsletter?

NEBRASKANEWS, the quarterly Area 41 newsletter, contains the agenda and schedule for assemblies. The agenda includes the text and background information for all known proposals to be voted on and the items that have been assigned to committees for consideration. Also included are reports from Area officers, committee chairs, service position-holders and DCMs and contact information for those. To maintain anonymity at the public level, the version of the newsletter that appears on this website does not include personal information about any member.

The area committee is comprised of trusted servants including Officers, Service Positions, Committee Chairs, and District Committee Members (DCMs).
